Commercial Services: Design & Templating Services
Design and Templating Built for Commercial Reality
Commercial stone is won before fabrication ever starts. Trademark’s Design & Templating team exists to reduce risk, protect schedules, and ensure what gets fabricated is what actually fits in the field.
We work directly with General Contractors, casework teams, architects, and designers to verify field conditions, coordinate details, and produce accurate digital templates that support clean fabrication and smooth installation.
Our Design & Templating Process
1) Pre-Planning and Scope Alignment
Before we template, we align on scope and expectations. That includes materials, finishes, edge details, cutouts, and any site constraints that could impact fabrication or install.
2) CAD and Layout Coordination
We translate plans and specs into a buildable drawing set. This is where we confirm key details like sink and appliance cutouts, overhangs, support requirements, seam strategy, and transitions to adjacent trades.
3) Field Verification and Digital Templating
We capture real-world conditions on-site using digital templating tools. This step verifies dimensions, reveals, walls, panels, and site variables that plans alone do not always reflect.
4) Preflight Checks Before Production
We review the template and scope details to catch common failure points before they become expensive mistakes. This includes confirming finished edges, exposed sides, cutouts, and special conditions.
5) Clean Handoff to Fabrication
Once approved and verified, the final files move into fabrication workflows for consistent execution and a smoother install.
Benefits of Our Design & Templating Services
Accuracy that Reduces Rework
Field verification helps prevent misfits, recuts, and install day surprises.
Schedule Protection
Clear scope and tight coordination keep projects moving through production and installation.
Better Communication Across Trades
Clean documentation helps reduce RFIs, assumptions, and last-minute changes.
Repeatability for Multi-Unit Work
Standardized details and consistent workflows support precut and multifamily programs.
What We Need from You to Template Successfully
To move fast and stay accurate, we typically need:
- Plans, elevations, and relevant details
- Casework shop drawings when applicable
- Sink and appliance cut sheets, models, and cutout requirements
- Finish and edge profile selections
- Site readiness confirmation and access coordination
Design & Templating FAQ
-
What tools do you use for templating?
We use modern digital templating methods paired with CAD workflows to capture accurate field conditions and produce fabrication-ready files.
-
How long does design and templating take?
Timing depends on scope and site readiness. Many templates can be completed quickly once the site is ready and required specs are confirmed. Complex projects may require additional coordination and approvals.
-
Can you handle custom applications and special conditions?
Yes. We regularly support complex commercial scopes including reception desks, feature walls, bar tops, multi-floor logistics, and specialty details.
-
How do you ensure template accuracy?
Accuracy comes from field verification, clear documentation, and internal review. We also use preflight checks to catch common misses before production.
-
Do you offer on-site templating?
Yes. On-site templating is a key part of our commercial process to ensure measurements reflect true field conditions.
