Why Trademark?

Seventeen years. One shop. One standard.

Trademark Universal Stone has been designing, fabricating, and installing granite, marble, quartz, and quartzite in Louisville since April 2009. We started with three partners, a cardboard template, and a garden hose. By 2012 we were the largest countertop company in Kentucky. Today we are about 80 people, two showrooms, one fabrication floor, and the same three partners, still here, still answering for the work.

If you are choosing who cuts the stone for your kitchen, your build, or your building, here is the case.

We have been here, and we are not going anywhere.

Seventeen years in one city is a long time in this trade. Fabricators open, undercut everyone for a season, and close. Their warranties close with them. Trademark has been at 4105 Bishop Lane through two recessions, a pandemic, and a housing boom, and we added a second showroom in Norton Commons because our clients asked for one closer to home.

The people who founded the company still run it. When you call, the person who answers can walk out onto the shop floor and look at your job. That is what locally owned and operated means when it is not just a badge on a website.

Our reputation was built one referral at a time.

We have never bought our way onto anyone’s shortlist. The business was built on word of mouth, which is the slowest way to grow and the only way that lasts. Homeowners send their neighbors. Builders send their next build. Designers send their clients because they know the stone will match the rendering.

We are fully insured. Estimates are free. Financing is available for residential projects. Our crews are neat, polite, and approachable, a line from our old website that we are keeping because it is still true. And when Louisville Business First named Trademark one of the city’s Best Places to Work for 2025, it confirmed something our clients already knew: the people who show up at your door have usually been showing up for years.

Ask for references. Our old website called them “really dope.” We have not found a more accurate word.

The work speaks for itself.

Thousands of Louisville kitchens, bathrooms, fireplaces, and basement bars. Homearama showcase homes. New construction across Norton Commons and Prospect. Remodels where the countertop was the last thing installed and the first thing everyone noticed.

And the big rooms: Churchill Downs. Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. The Kentucky Downs expansion in Franklin. The Crowne Plaza renovation, delivered in nine phases ahead of Derby week. The University of Louisville Athletics Bourbon Club. The Angel’s Envy Distillery.

Same shop. Same people. Same standard, whether the surface is a six-foot island or a sixty-foot bar.

Everything under one roof.

Design. Templating. Fabrication. Installation. Quality control. We do all of it with our own people, on our own equipment, and we stock our own material through our supply house, Lithology, along with roughly 600 Blanco sinks on the shelf. Nothing gets subcontracted to a stranger.

Every handoff between companies is a place for a measurement to drift or a date to slip. We removed the handoffs. One number to call, one team that owns the outcome, and, as our builder clients like to put it, one less thing to worry about.

Robots, and the people who supervise them.

Since 2016 our shop has run a BACA Robo SawJet, an industrial robot that cuts stone with a waterjet and a saw at the same time. It cuts a full slab in about eleven minutes and turns out roughly 1,000 square feet a day on a single shift. It doubled our capacity, improved our yield, and has never once asked for a raise.

The robot is why your edges are straight and your seams are tight. The people are why it all lands where the drawing said it would. Our CAD editors, template techs, and installers are the same team year after year, and it shows in the fit.

We come back after the install.

Most fabricators consider the job done when the truck pulls away. Ours sends a quality control team to inspect the work after installation, before we call it finished. Then we back it with a one-year limited warranty on fabrication and installation.

That second visit is the difference between a company that installs countertops and a company that stands behind them.

Clients, not customers.

A customer is someone in a transaction. A client is someone under your protection. Every homeowner, builder, remodeler, designer, cabinet company, architect, developer, and general contractor we work with is a client, and our job is to look after you at every step, not just the ones on the invoice.

That includes telling you the truth. If quartz is the smarter choice for your space, we will say so even if you walked in wanting marble. If a spec is going to blow the budget, we will show you the alternative before you find out the hard way. We believe we owe you an honest education whether or not you hire us. Most of the time, that is exactly why people do.

Two divisions. One standard.

We run a Residential Division for homeowners, builders, remodelers, designers, and cabinet companies, and a Commercial Division for general contractors, developers, architects, and casework companies. The divisions exist because the work is different: a family needs a designer at the slab and a crew that is in and out on the day promised; a developer needs takeoffs, submittals, and a fabricator that can hold a schedule across hundreds of units.

What did not split is the standard. Homeowners get commercial-grade systems. Contractors get a shop that treats a restroom counter like it is going in someone’s mother’s house.

Relax. It’s Trademark.

That is the whole promise. You hand it off. We handle it. You get your kitchen, your build, or your building back on the day we said, looking the way you pictured it, backed by people who will still be here next year.
