Commercial Division: Architects
We build what you drew, not the closest thing a shop could manage.
Somewhere between the rendering and the ribbon cutting, a lot of stone gets quietly downgraded. The bookmatched quartzite becomes a plain slab. The mitered waterfall edge becomes a square one because the fabricator could not hold the tolerance. The spec you wrote gets value-engineered by someone who never read it.
Trademark Universal Stone has fabricated commercial stone in Louisville since 2009, and we treat your drawings as the standard the finished surface is measured against. We will tell you early what a detail requires, what it costs, and what the alternates look like, so the decisions get made by you and the owner, not by default in a shop.
How we support your practice
- Specification support: material data, thickness options, edge profiles, seam placement, overhang limits, and support requirements
- Physical samples and slab viewing at Lithology, our own supply house, so you can approve the actual material, not a photograph of it
- Shop drawings and submittals that match your details, with any deviations flagged and explained
- Alternates and value engineering presented as options that keep the intent, with honest cost and lead-time differences
- Full-scale mockups for feature elements such as reception desks, bar dies, and bookmatched walls
- Fabrication on a robotic sawjet and CNC line capable of mitered edges, large-format porcelain, and complex cutouts
- Field verification and templating against as-built conditions before anything is cut
- Quality control inspection after install, before we sign off
Why architects choose Trademark
We answer technical questions on the same day. Can a 14-inch overhang go unsupported in three-centimeter quartz? What is the largest bookmatched panel we can source? Will that porcelain hold a mitered edge? Our estimating and CAD team answers these questions daily, and we would rather answer them at design development than at punch list.
Value engineering that keeps the idea. When the budget tightens, we propose alternates that preserve the visual: a quartz with similar veining, a change in thickness rather than material, an edge that reads the same at eye level. You keep the design. The owner keeps the number.
Material you can put your hands on. Lithology stocks unique granites, marbles, and quartzites alongside engineered quartz from Cambria, ENVI, and Impact. You and your client can walk the slabs with us before a selection is locked.
A shop that can hit the tolerance. Robotic cutting, CNC edging, and digital templating mean the seam lands where the drawing put it. The people running the machines have been running them for years.
Recent work
The Angel’s Envy Distillery, the University of Louisville Athletics Bourbon Club, the Crowne Plaza renovation, Churchill Downs, and Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. High-visibility spaces where the stone is part of the architecture, not an afterthought on the finish schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can you help write or review a stone specification?
Yes. We regularly review specs for material suitability, thickness, edge treatment, seam placement, and support, and we will flag anything that will be difficult to fabricate or maintain.
-
Do you provide samples and shop drawings?
Yes. Physical samples, slab viewing, shop drawings, seam diagrams, and submittals are standard on every commercial package.
-
What can you fabricate?
Granite, marble, quartz, quartzite, porcelain, limestone, and soapstone. Mitered and built-up edges, waterfall ends, bookmatched panels, large-format porcelain, integrated sinks, and radius work.
-
How do you handle value engineering?
As a set of options with real numbers attached, presented to you and the owner together. We do not swap materials without a conversation.
-
Can we see the shop?
Yes. We welcome architects and their clients at the fabrication facility and at Lithology to view material and see how the work is done.
