Kentucky Downs Expansion

Overview

The Kentucky Downs project in Franklin, Kentucky, was a large-scale expansion involving multiple phases across hotel rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and dining spaces. Trademark Universal Stone took on the task of enhancing these spaces with premium stone finishes, coordinating with the general contractor and local suppliers to deliver a polished and cohesive look. The project required a high level of precision and logistical planning, as Trademark Universal Stone’s team traveled extensively and collaborated with designers to select ideal materials.

Challenge

The sheer scale of the project and its location in Franklin, Kentucky, introduced logistical challenges, particularly in terms of travel and timing. With over ten phases, Trademark Universal Stone had to meticulously coordinate its production schedule to make the most of each visit. Additionally, delays from other trades meant that Trademark Universal Stone often had to adapt to a compressed timeline, with the team mobilizing quickly as areas became available. The variety of materials required for different spaces added complexity, as each stone needed careful selection and handling.

Solution

To meet the project’s demands, Trademark Universal Stone worked closely with the architect and designer to select the perfect materials, including Brazilian Blue Fantasy, Taj Mahal, and Elegant Brown quartzite. The team sourced materials from Nashville, ensuring an efficient supply chain through Schaefer’s sister company, Lithology, allowing for effective inventory management and quick access to required slabs. In common areas and restrooms, the team installed Metro Quartz in Calzada, while Titanium Gold granite provided a striking look with its rust-colored veining. By offering value engineering recommendations, Trademark Universal Stone achieved the desired aesthetic while managing costs for the client.
